I’m a pianist, composer, and music educator based in Oakland, CA. For over 16 years, I’ve performed and recorded with top artists in the San Francisco Bay Area, particularly in the Afro-Cuban/salsa, Latin jazz, and Brazilian jazz scenes. I’m currently working with guitarist/composer Ray Obiedo’s Mistura Fina, which blends Brazilian jazz, Latin jazz, and East Bay funk, featuring singer Sandy Cressman.
After many years as a sideman, I’m now focusing on composing and recording original music. I hope to release my first CD as a solo artist in the coming year. Meanwhile, check out samples from my recordings with Tanaóra (Brazilian and Latin jazz) and La Moderna Tradición (Afro-Cuban charanga). In addition to playing piano, I co-produced these CDs.
The solo piano improvisations are the first original music I’ve released, and will be included in a full-length CD of solo piano. Stylistically these are a far cry from anything else I’ve recorded, and in many ways they’re also the most personal.
Welcome to my new web site. Soon I’ll be adding a web store with high-quality downloads of original music unavailable anywhere else. Please check back for updates, or sign up for my newsletter and I’ll let you know when the store opens.
